About our Stockport courses
One of Greater Manchester’s largest satellite towns, Stockport is a hub for industry, retail, education and leisure, and a population nearing 300,000. As such, we provide expert occupational health and safety training to many different kinds of organisations in the Stockport area.
We have a training location very close to the town centre, but if on-site training would be more convenient for you, we can accommodate that – so just let us know at the point of booking, or submit a quick enquiry and we will get back to you.
Our popular Stockport courses are listed below, but this list is not exhaustive: if you would like us to arrange a different type of relevant training for you, we can. Give us a call on 0800 774 7034 or email us ([email protected]) if you have any questions whatsoever.

Recognised by: Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
Valid for: 3 years
Our Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training is a day-long course best suited to first-aiders in ‘low-risk’ work environments such as offices and retail stores.
The training outlines various common accidents and sudden illnesses that staff, visitors or customers can fall victim to, and instructs attendees on the best practices for responding to each scenario.

Paediatric First Aid
Completion certificate: Yes
Recognised by: OFSTED and EYFS
Valid for: 3 years
Our Paediatric First Aid training is a two-day course designed to expand attendee’s knowledge and skill level beyond basic first aid. We commonly run this course for all types of staff in schools, nurseries and other child-minding environments.
The crux of this course is about teaching your staff how to respond swiftly and effectively to when a young child or baby has an accident or suffers a sudden illness – and giving them the confidence to act decisively.

First Aid at Work (FAW) – level 3
Completion certificate: Yes
Recognised by: Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
Valid for: 3 years
Our First Aid at Work (FAW) training is a three-day course that goes into deep detail on first aid in the workplace (much more so than the one-day alternative). It is ideal for first-aiders who work in more hazardous environments (e.g. construction, manufacturing, etc.) or in larger organisations.
We can customise the course content for your business and sector if you wish (because we do provide this training to a great variety of organisations) – just let us know your requirements at the point of booking.
First Aid – Annual Half-Day Refresher
Completion certificate: Yes
Recognised by: Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
Valid for: 1 year
HSE strongly recommends that qualified first-aiders receive refresher training on an annual basis, so that their existing knowledge is reinforced and they are kept fully up to date on any changes to technique, best practice and legislation.
Fire Awareness
Completion certificate: No
Recognised by: N/A
Valid for: N/A
Our Fire Awareness training is a three-hour introductory course designed to give a solid introduction to fire safety in the workplace. In addition to outlining key fire safety principles, the course shows attendees how to operate fire extinguishers and how to conduct/assist building evacuations. Each attendee takes part in a practical fire extinguisher demonstration to verify their learning.
This training does not constitute a formal qualification, but every employer should nonetheless view it as necessary, given that the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that employers must provide adequate safety training for all of their employees.

Fire Warden (AKA Fire Marshal)
Completion certificate: Yes
Recognised by: Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
Valid for: Indefinitely (but we recommend refreshing knowledge every 3 years)
Our Fire Warden training is a half-day course that teaches attendees how to identify and proactively prevent fire risks in the workplace. Please note that it is beneficial (and recommended) for all fire wardens within your business, not just the most senior fire warden (AKA the ‘fire safety coordinator’).
Each attendee completes a practical fire extinguisher demonstration to prove their proficiency, and they will receive certification at the end of the session if they pass.

Hot Work Passport
Completion certificate: Yes
Recognised by: N/A
Valid for: 5 years
Our Hot Work Passport training is a day-long course that educates attendees about the various risks associated with hot work (i.e. any activity that can produce heat or sparks) and the safe ways in which to carry out hot work permits (risk assessments).
Hot work permits are a legal requirement for anyone who is carrying out or supervising hot work, including site managers. Examples of hot work include oxy-fuel welding, electric welding, or anything involving equipment such as Stihl saws, cutting discs, grinding wheels, blowlamps, blowtorches and so on.
Each attendee receives a certificate and a photo ID card (‘passport’) upon completion of the day’s training.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Completion certificate: Yes
Recognised by: Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
Valid for: 1 year
Our Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training is an intensive two-hour course that gives people the skills and confidence to use an AED on someone who has suffered a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). As SCAs can strike at any time and by definition come without prior symptoms, it is key that every workplace has at least a couple of employees who know exactly how to respond – it is literally life-saving.
If your workplace already has AEDs of a specific make and model, we can of course tailor the training to focus on those.
Manual Handling
Completion certificate: Yes
Recognised by: Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
Valid for: N/A
Our Manual Handling training is a half-day course focused on the theory and practice of safe lifting within the workplace, arming your employees with the knowledge to prevent injury to themselves and their colleagues.
We can customise the content for your organisation if that is applicable – just let us know in advance and we will liaise with you prior to the training date. If your workplace requires more in-depth training, we can extend the duration to a full day, to ensure thoroughness.
