About our Liverpool courses

Given the city of Liverpool’s consistent development over the last two decades, we’ve worked with many employers across the city, providing their staff with expert occupational health and safety training. From SMEs to large businesses – including construction companies, schools, leisure facilities and hospitality – our courses have helped to keep the city, its workers, residents and visitors safe.

We have a dedicated Liverpool training location, but we know that on-site training is much more convenient and cost-efficient for many businesses. Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) – level 2

Recognised by: Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
Valid for: 3 years

Our full-day EFAW course teaches the basics of emergency first aid in a ‘low-risk’ work environment, such as an office or retail space that has fewer than 50 staff.

The types of scenarios we cover are various accidents and sudden illnesses, along with the appropriate responses for each one.

In short, the training is designed to equip your employees with the skills and knowledge needed to act effectively, protecting their colleagues and customers or visitors.

First Aid at Work (FAW) – level 3

Valid for: 3 years

Our three-day FAW course goes into much more depth than the one-day EFAW course, and is geared towards larger and more hazardous work environments – ideal for sectors such as construction, manufacturing and agriculture.

We can tailor the course content specifically for your sector and work environment.

First Aid – Annual Half-Day Refresher

Valid for: 1 year

HSE strongly recommends that businesses seek annual refresher training for all qualified first-aiders within the three years of the qualification – for two reasons:

To reinforce the knowledge previously learned
To update first-aiders on any new approaches or changes in procedure

Paediatric First Aid

Completion certificate: Yes
Recognised by: OFSTED and EYFS
Valid for: 3 years

Our two-day Paediatric First Aid course elevates your knowledge and skills beyond that of a basic first-aider within a school, nursery or child-minding environment.

You will learn, in detail, how to respond swiftly and effectively to a variety of accidents, illnesses and other emergency situations involving young children and babies.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Valid for: 1 year

Our two-hour AED training course teaches attendees how to operate automated external defibrillators (AEDs), which provide life-saving initial treatment in the event of cardiac arrest.

Anyone can theoretically use an AED. With professional training, your employees will have the confidence to act quickly and decisively – administering a shock that buys the victim vital time while the emergency services make their way to the scene.

Fire Awareness

Our three-hour Fire Awareness course teaches your staff the appropriate workplace responses in the event of a fire or the sounding of a fire alarm – from carrying out basic fire safety, to using fire extinguishers and conducting evacuations (all attendees partake in a practical fire extinguisher demo, learning exactly how to discharge).

Although this course does not provide attendees with a formal qualification, it is necessary due to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which states that employers must ensure that all employees must receive adequate safety training.

Fire Warden (AKA Fire Marshal)

Valid for: Indefinitely (but we recommend refreshing knowledge every 3 years)

Our half-day Fire Warden course equips your designated fire wardens/marshals with the confidence and knowledge to proactively prevent fire risks from developing, as well as take charge during fire emergencies that do escalate. All attendees partake in a practical fire extinguisher demo, learning exactly how to discharge.

This training is a legal requirement for all businesses, and applies to each and every employee who has fire warden responsibilities (and if your business has more than 20 employees, you are required to have more than one fire warden).

Evacuation Chair

Valid for: 2 years

Our half-day Evacuation chair training course teaches your staff the crucial knowledge and techniques needed to evacuate disabled or immobile people from your premises in the event of an emergency – swiftly and safely.

The training itself is not required by law, but ensuring a safe means of escape from your building is, hence the importance of this course – not only for your employees, but also for any site visitors such as customers and clients.

Hot Work Passport

Valid for: 5 years

Our full-day Hot Work Passport course gives workers and supervisory staff a clear understanding of the risks and hazards involved in hot work, how to carry out hot work permits (risk assessments), and of course how to proactively prevent fires and other accidents.

These permits are a legal requirement for any worker carrying out or supervising hot work (including site managers) – examples being welding (oxy-fuel or electric), blowlamps/blowtorches, cutting discs, grinding wheels and Stihl saws. A certificate and a photo ID card (‘passport’) are awarded to each attendee upon completion of this course.

Our half-day Manual Handling course will equip your employees with a clear understanding of the anatomy, physiology and mechanics of safe lifting within the workplace – minimising accidents and injuries across the workforce.

We will happily tailor this course’s content to your specific industry to ensure that your employees receive tuition that applies directly to their day-to-day handling tasks. For complex work environments, we can extend the duration to full-day if necessary.
